Did you know that Rock and a Hard Place publishes novels and single-author story collections?
We’re looking for longer works that align with what we publish in our flagship magazine, so read those guidelines before submitting anything. We are closed for novel and short story collection queries at the moment but will be open for queries from May 1st to June 1st, 2026.
When you submit your query through a form we will link here, be prepared to include a cover letter, a synopsis, and the first 30 pages of your work. You will also be asked in the query form why you feel your work fits with Rock and a Hard Place Press’s vision for socially conscious noir and crime fiction. Please honestly answer that question.
